It embodies the connection between memory, growth, and the passage of time—elements that are deeply woven into the fabric of my art. To me, it suggests an organic link between the past and present, much like the intricate lines of tree rings that mark the years that have passed, or the unseen roots that anchor life to the earth.
In my work, the lines and textures I create reflect the layered complexity of time. Just as trees preserve history within their rings, I use my art to reflect the essence of time and the experiences that shape me. The materials I choose—especially the pottery material I brought from my high school in Hong Kong—add a personal touch that ties my own history to the natural world. This medium carries a sense of permanence, a way of preserving fleeting moments in something tangible.
«Roots of Time» also represents resilience for me. Just like roots, human experiences twist and adapt over time. Often hidden beneath the surface, they shape everything we see. Time shapes who we are, sometimes in ways we can only understand upon reflection.
As an abstract painter, this title allows me to express the deeper truths of nature, identity, and time, not through literal images but through form, texture, and emotion. It gives the viewer space to interpret the work through their own lens while still feeling the weight of the passage of time, nature, and personal history embedded in it.
