Returning to Ethiopia for the first time was an experience that shifted something deep within me. It was more than just a trip—it was a journey through memory, identity, and belonging. Seeing the land, the people, and the traditions up close made me feel both connected and distant at the same time.
This piece was inspired by the clothing of a particular tribe that left a lasting impression on me. The textures, the folds, the way fabric carries history—it all spoke to me. I wanted to capture that essence, the feeling of being wrapped in heritage, yet still navigating my place within it. The deep blue represents both the vastness of the unknown and the comfort of familiarity. The fragmented yet intentional placement of fabric mirrors my own emotions—scattered, yet coming together to form something whole.
Fragments of Home is a reflection of my reconnection, a visual language for emotions that words often fail to express.
